my boiler has a British Gas wireless controller, model number RC5. I dont have an instruction manual for it, can you help?
Thanks
We do not currently hold electronic copies of thermostat and timer instruction manuals although we are trying to source these.
The thermostat to refer to is manufactured by Siebe controls and their contact number is 01628 673319 - if you contact them direct they may be able to send you the instruction manual.
my boiler has a British Gas wireless controller WR1. it is no longer communicating with the thermostat (which itelf seems to be working properly) and a constant red light is showing in the ‘receive alarm’ window. i don’t have an instruction booklet for this. is there something simple i can to to fix this?
Thanks
We are sorry that we are not aware of any simple procedure a customer could follow to remedy the fault.
If you have previously taken out one of British Gas’s Homecare agreements with the appropriate level of cover for heating controls we recommend you request a visit from a British Gas engineer who should be able to identify the cause and repair your system.
If you do not have an agreement, British Gas do offer an ‘on demand / emergency repair service. Telephone 0808 178 2098 for a Quotation. No matter how big the problem the fixed price quoted includes all parts, labour and call out charges.
Hi,
I have a RD 532 combi in our newly moved into house, and I decided (nor for the first time) to do some home plumbing and add a radiator. Things did not go well… (residual water in piped messed up my solder joints and I had to do it again with compression joints). During this time I pressurised and re-pressurised the hot water system several times.
I am now noticing a constant very slow increase in the water pressure in the boiler on the central heating pressure guage, that I am having to drain down to get the dial back in to the green (about 2-3 hours to go up 2 bar).
I suspenct I have either:
1) got a leak in the central heating loop filling tap ( will test today)
2) a damaged valve in the boiler that is somehow transfering water from the mains to the central heating loop
Any ideas, comments etc on how I can confirm for certain that its no “2″ would be gratefully recieved.
I appriciate that “call an engineer” is the final solution!
Regards
Eadmund
It is very difficult to diagnose heating problems remotely. Notwithstanding this we suggest you isolate the filling loop today as mentioned and see if the pressure rises, if its still rising then damage has been caused to the water to water heat exchanger and unfortunately you will need an engineer out to repair the system.
